Huajes Valley Network

The Valle de Huajes Network is a collective of all kinds of innovators: artists, chefs, entrepreneurs, cultural promoters, designers, architects, and activists interested in joining the potters of Oaxaca, learning from them, and strengthening this ancient trade.

After working quietly for a decade, in November 2016 we launched the Valle de Huajes Network in San Francisco, California, as a space where people could get involved in our project. The response was overwhelming. Through Innovando la Tradición, we started an international network of solidarity in support of pottery as a viable livelihood.

The pottery communities of Oaxaca, of such importance to our country and its history is supported by this network. Through pottery, we create more inclusive, far more environmentally responsible futures based on peace and community.

In light of the fragility of this knowledge, which has survived for over 4,000 years because it is useful, beautiful and encompasses the artistic expression of a people, I feel, and I am, totally committed to this work.

TOGETHER WE HAVE WALKED TOGETHER WITH THE potters TOWARDS A PROSPEROUS FUTURE.

At this incredibly challenging and historic moment for our country and the world, what better way to move forward than to look at ourselves and find, within our reach, a way to understand who we are and where we want to go.
