From March 4 to 9 2013<\/strong>, at the CAMPO AC facilities, in San Luis Beltr\u00e1n, Oaxaca, we organized the first training workshop Introduction to EcoWood<\/strong> with UniTierra Oaxaca<\/strong> and in collaboration with Legacy Foundation<\/strong>, from the United States, and Progress Foundation<\/strong>, from Guatemala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ecole\u00f1a<\/strong> It is an alternative fuel in the form of bricks made from dry agricultural residues, such as grass, leaves, paper, charcoal, used as a substitute for wood or charcoal. These round bricks can be produced in small workshops or at home with a locally built wooden press at low cost. The Ecole\u00f1a can become a productive activity that provides income for the producers. It can contribute to the creation of productive chains when they are linked to the production of tortillas, mezcal or clay. The local production of Ecole\u00f1a can have a very positive economic, ecological and cultural impact by reducing the consumption of wood, reducing production costs, and the risks derived from smoke inhalation, generating new job opportunities, and increasing the self-sufficiency of the communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the workshop we learned to make eco-firewood and we even did a test with the matthew family<\/strong> of San Marcos Tlapazola to use partitions of eco-firewood in an open-air burning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
